From what age
In the FIGC programme children start with the Piccoli Amici group, from their 5th birthday. Before that age, football is mostly free play: running, ball skills, balance. There is no “too late”: a child who starts at 8 or 10 joins the group for their age.
When
The football season runs from 1 July to 30 June. Many families enrol their children in September, when groups start again. [At Blue Devils children can also join during the season: to be confirmed.]
How to choose a football school
At 6, the “best” football school is not the one that wins most, but the one where your child plays, learns and comes home happy. Before deciding, look at:
- who coaches and what qualifications they hold;
- whether groups are organised by age, as the FIGC requires;
- what the ground is like and how to get there;
- how the club communicates with families.
What you need, step by step
- Ask for information: through the form on this website or on +39 331 887 5772.
- Meet at the ground: the club office introduces the coach and the group. [Free trial: to be confirmed.]
- Medical certificate: non-competitive from 6, competitive from 12 (read our article on the certificate).
- Documents and FIGC registration: [list of documents required by the club]; the club office prepares the registration with you.
- Fees: the club office will tell you.
What to bring to the first session
Football boots or astro trainers, shin pads, a water bottle and a change of clothes. [Club kit: included yes/no.]
